You may think that if you've been around long enough, you've got some kind of leadership experience. But that's not true. If you haven't had any real-world experiences leading people, then you're just going to make bad decisions. And those bad decisions could cost you your job.
If you're not a natural leader, then you might try to fake it. That's fine, until someone catches on. Then you'll look like a phony who doesn't know what he's doing.
Leadership isn't something you do once and forget about. It's something you do every day. So if you want to get ahead, you need to show that you're willing to lead.
When you talk to people, they listen to you. When you give them direction, they follow it. And when you ask questions, they answer them. Those are the kinds of things that help leaders succeed.
Confidence comes from knowing yourself well and being comfortable with who you are. If you don't feel confident, then you won't be able to communicate effectively with others.
5. You don't have passion
Passion is what drives you to keep trying even though you don't feel like it. Passion is what makes you want to go above and beyond what's expected. And without passion, you won't be able motivate others.
6. You don't have humility
Humility means having a low opinion of yourself. Without humility, you won't be open to feedback and criticism. And without feedback, you won't be learning how to improve.
